How travel to Socotra works
A few things work differently on Socotra. Here is what to expect when you plan a trip.
Flights are booked for you
Seats on flights to Socotra are not sold online. Your operator books them as part of the trip.
The permit is arranged for you
Visitors need an entry permit sponsored by a licensed local operator. It is organised when you book.
Most trips are eight days
Trips are planned around the weekly flight, so eight days is the usual length.
Bring US dollars in cash
There are no working ATMs on the island and cards are not accepted.
Travel between October and April
The monsoon closes the island from about May to September.
